Today Ubisoft has finally acknowledged the long-standing rumored remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Ubisoft’s major pirate adventure that released back in October 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U, as well as for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows in November. Revealed in a post detailing the future of the series, the concept art shows protagonist Edward Kenway standing on top a ship’s mast. So far, other than the official title, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, no additional details are available. The game is due to come out later this year, so we will follow this closely to see if they meet the mark.
Last month, Ubisoft announced a restructuring for the company that saw multiple games get canceled. This included the much-anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, among other games being pushed back for further development. An Amazon listing went up right around the restructuring for the art of the game. However since then the listing and details are no longer available on the page.
Not many details have surfaced on how grand Ubisoft is planning to go with this remake. It is possible that combat and mechanics will be see an overhaul. This would see the remake be more in line with newer titles in the series, such as Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
There has also been speculation that the modern-day segment will not be in the remake. The initial report of this came from French outlet Jeux Video prior to any confirmations of the remake. IGN also reported on this translating some of the main points for those of us who do not speak French. Ubisoft has not addressed this as of yet. For now, we will need to wait until Ubisoft is ready to showcase what’s in store.
Spoilers for the Modern Day Story
For those who are unaware, the modern-day story saw you playing as an employee at Abstergo Entertainment. Abstergo is a cover company for the Templars in the game world. Fans have been divided on these segments, so seeing whether they return or not is interesting.
