Prime Video has released it’s first official shot of the God of War series currently in production in Vancouver. The tease shows Ryan Hurst as Kratos possibly advising his young son Atreus, played by Callum Vinson, to “be better” while the pair hunt in the forest. The internet is doing what it does as the post has stirred up a lot of discourse as to the quality, or lack there of, of a series still in its production infancy.
Whatever the reaction to this first look, it can’t be denied that it has garnered the upcoming live-action adaptation a fair bit of attention leading into the weekend. Over the past few weeks Prime Video has been announcing more and more castings for the anticipated show. Names like Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as blacksmith brothers Brok and Sindri, Teresa Palmer as Sif, Ed Skrein as Baldur, and Alastair Duncan reprising his role from the games as Mimir, have generated various amounts of buzz leading to today’s first look reveal.

Norse What You Were Expecting?
Previously, Prime Video has confirmed that it won’t be directly adapting the Greek saga of God of War games. Instead the focus is on Kratos era from the two most recent games titles. So we should expect more of the Norse arc from the long running and much loved series. What are your thoughts on that decision as well as all the casting announcements?
I, for one, remain cautiously optimistic, as I do with every video game adaptation. I am anxious for future me to compare this still with the fully produced trailer later on down the road.
