God of War: Sons of Sparta, the 2D Metroidvania from the God of War universe, does offer two-player co-operative play via the Pit of Agonies mode, which can also be played solo. Sons of Sparta’s release was controversial as the PlayStation Store page seemingly misled players to think two-player was available immediately.
Players were surprised to learn that it was required to beat the main game before being able to access two-player co-op. Now, there is a code to unlock co-op or single player, The Pit of Agonies, from the main menu.

Two Player / The Pit of Agonies Cheat Code
To access the Two Player / The Pit of Agonies mode without completing the game in God of War: Sons of Sparta, you should first head to the game’s start menu. Once here, you should enter the following code:
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, L1, R1, Touchpad
And with entering the code, you’ll have immediate access to this exciting, challenging roguelike mode. Though it should be said that The Pit of Agonies is a difficult game mode that Mega Cat Studios recommends players attempt after completing the main game. The Pit of Agonies is a roguelike challenge mode that can now be played solo or with a friend in co-operative play. In co-op mode, one player will use Kratos, whilst their buddy will use Deimos. Co-op is couch only; there is no online play supported.
Good luck out there on your runs!
