Before 2026 started, we knew it’d be huge for AAA and indies alike. But little did we know that within two months we’d have so many incredible smaller titles. Already this year gamers have been treated to the brilliant Fez-inspired Cassette Boy, the horrifying but exceptional, Reanimal and brilliant horror shooter, Crisol.
Though, just last week we’ve seen the most successful indie launch of the year so far, Mewgenics. Created by The Binding of Isaac developer, Edmund McMillen, the tactical (catical, perhaps?) roguelike was able to breakeven on development costs within 12 hours, shifting 250,000 copies. With the game passing 100,000 concurrent players on Steam over the weekend, it’s been a storming start for McMillen’s new title. With a 200h+ campaign, player numbers will likely remain high for some time.
This has, of course, left console players wondering if they’ll be able to get in on the Boon County action in the near future. McMillen had previously confirmed console ports would follow PC, but has now confirmed via X (Twitter) that this is indeed still in the case:
Working on it now not sure when it will be done though but at this point it might be in Dev for all systems https://t.co/lnUC7YQ44j

We don’t know which consoles this will be for, McMillen confirms it may be for all platforms – Xbox, Switch and PlayStation. If it’s anything to go by, the Mewgenics creator’s most famous game, The Binding of Isaac has been available for all platforms for a long time.
There’s little more to report at this time and a release window isn’t available. We’ll be sure to bring you further updates at GSC as they become available.
