Diablo 2: Resurrected recently got a new update to the game, the Reign of the Warlock. With this update we saw many things come to the iconic game including a new enemy. So what is this enemy and where, or better yet how do you get it to spawn? We have the answers you need.

Herald’s

The new enemy in the game is called a Herald. The Herald only shows up within Terrorized Zones, and even then it is not guaranteed to spawn. For those of you perhaps new to the game, Terror Zones is a rotating zone that the game will randomly choose and make those areas stronger for a time being. So for example if the game says Stony Field is Terrorized, going there will lead to more powerful enemies and therefore a better chance at getting good loot drops.

How To Trigger A Herald

In order to get a Herald to spawn two things will need to happen. First you will need to head to the terror zones and begin killing enemies, specifically champions and unique enemies. As you go along killing these enemies you may get a message that pops up saying you have “drawn the ire of a Herald.” Keep in mind this isn’t guaranteed to happen. You may go multiple games without drawing the ire of a Herald. Such is life in Diablo 2!

All this means is you have triggered the first step of this two step process as a Herald is now hunting you and will essentially take the place of one of those unique’s or champions somewhere within the Terror Zones. Continue to kill enemies and you may get a second message saying that a Herald is hunting you in whatever region you are in.

If you get this message then you will definitely see a Herald within that area if you continue to look for it. If it is your first Herald within that game it will be a level 1 Herald. This means that it is less likely to drop great loot, though it is still more likely to drop good loot than other enemies.

If you kill one then the next one you see in that game will be a level 2 Herald that will be stronger and have better chances of dropping loot. It appears so far that the highest level Herald is the only one capable of dropping the new Sunder Charms.

Best Way To Get Multiple Herald’s In A Game?

So if you are like most magic finders within Diablo 2 always looking for the best loot, you probably want to get high level Herald’s in your game. Luckily with the new Worldstone Shards you can now terrorize an entire Act. This means that entire act will become terrorized giving you ample opportunity to see multiple Heralds. Simply walk through each area within the Terrorized act and hope you see a bunch.

The Worldstone Shards are only found within Terror Zones, so chances are as you are trying to find Heralds you might find a Worldstone Shard if your luck is high that day!
