The release of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 in 2023 led fans of the Tactical Espionage Action series from Konami to assume, naturally, a Vol. 2 would follow at some point. The hope was that Konami would finally free MGS4: Guns of the Patriots from the PS3 prison it has been stuck in. Fans also hoped another favourite, the excellent Peace Walker which originally released for the PSP back in 2010, would too see new life.
In September, the Series Producer confirmed the second collection was still in development. Fans can now shed their cardboard box hiding places and rejoice as Konami have officially announced at the PlayStation State of Play event that Vol. 2 is on the way!
This second Master Collection will feature Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (add another nail in my PS3’s coffin) as hoped, as well as the aforementioned Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD remaster version), both very important entries in the main series.
Along with the marquee games featured in the collection is the (non-canon) Game Boy Color game, Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel. Also included in the collection are screenplays and master books for both games, as well as a digital soundtrack. Pre-ordering will, naturally, include additional outfits and camo options, but there isn’t any word yet as to the actual amount of cardboard based espionage devices.
Fans who have been clamoring for another release of some kind for MGS4, which originally released in 2008, finally have the chance to add the last remaining main entry titles to modern hardware when The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 releases August 27 2026 for the PS5, Switch/Switch 2, Xbox Series, and PC.
