The Sony State of Play. It never ceases to amaze just how much we get to see! Our whole summary of the showcase can be found here, but there was one trailer that stuck out for me. As a Star Wars fan, you know I started jumping up and down the moment I saw that Lucasfilm Games logo. And I was not disappointed with what I saw – Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
So, it appears that there is a Galactic Racing League in the Star Wars universe? Who knew – but also not shocking. As a Millenial, I have many fond memories of slamming my podracer into the walls in Star Wars Episode 1: Racer. Honest truth – I first thought that we were getting a modern reimagining of that game. We’re initially treated to a faceless racer in this official gameplay trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer.

From there, it’s a whirlwind of a high-speed ride. And also, swoop bikes? I guess this league is very flexible on what is allowed to enter the races!

It also appears, further along in the trailer, that there night be something of a story element to the game and not just simple racing! From there, we get more glimpses of additional races that are spread across various planets with wildly different biomes.
But that’s not all. Star Wars: Galactic Racer had one more surprise in store for us.

Your eyes are not fooling you. My ramblings about Star Wars Episode I: Racer were relevant as we’re provided with a quick glimpse of Ben Quadinaros and the ever-detested Sebulba. Or at least Sebulba’s podracer.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is slated for a 2026 release to PC (Steam and Epic), along with PlayStation 5 and Xbox.
