After revealing some details on its steam page earlier in the week, Arc System Works took the stage at the state of play to show even more details about Tokon. It’s confirmed there will be 20 characters at launch. During the State of Play, it was announced that the known cast will be joined by Wolverine, Magik, Danger to round out the “Unbreakable X-Men” team. This leaves 9 characters still unknown.

Wolverine looks to be a relentless rushdown character much like he has been in previous fighting games, although unlike past games he has armor on his attacks. Magik and Danger, two characters making their debut in a fighting game have different styles. Magik fights with a massive sword and looks to be a mid range fighter. Danger looks to be focused heavily on Zoning.
Who else might we see in Tokon? We know Gladiator was shown in the opening cut scene, although he was defeated by someone else unknown in that shot. There is still so much more to learn about this exciting new fighter.
Arc System Works is certainly keeping their word about unexpected characters joining the fight. While Wolverine is certainly a no brainer, Magik isn’t someone I would’ve called over some of the other X-Men and Danger is someone I wouldn’t have seen coming in a million years.

Other details Include that the game will have to 64 player lobbies. When I played the beta a few months back, it’s online did hold up very well. So I’m certain Tokon will be able to handle that many players all at once.
Arc Sys also confirmed a single player mode that will focus on different set teams of characters. The Unbreakable X-Men will be one of these and it looks like others will be based around the avengers, supernatural characters, villains and perhaps street level heroes
All this and more in August
Tokon also has its release and preorder dates. We now know that the game will launch on August 6th 2026. Preorders will open on February 19th. On top of the 20 launch characters, we now know the year 1 DLC pass will feature 4 characters launching as well as a new stage. It’ll be interesting to see who else will be coming to the game. After Danger, perhaps my prediction about Slapstick joining the game won’t be too far off after all.
