At Sony’s State of Play Koei Tecmo took the stage to talk about the future of the Dead Or Alive franchise. They had two big announcements to share during their 30th anniversary. Firstly, they announced DOA 6 Last round. This is an upgraded version that has features such as the release of all DLC characters included, an Improved photo mode and upgrades for the PS5 version. Fans can also look for new costumes of some of their favorites.

A free to play version will also be coming with the release of the game. That means for those who aren’t already fans, they can try with no risk. This probably could’ve been enough to coincide with the series 30th anniversary but Koei Tecmo didn’t stop there. For fans of the series, the next bit of news is perhaps the most exciting.
After talking about Last Round, they also revealed that a 7th entry in the franchise is in development. A short video of Ryu Hayabusa and what looked to be series mainstay Kasumi or possibly her daughter was briefly shown. While no other details were shown for the new entry, it’s confirmed that DOA 6 Last Round will launch on June 25th 2026.

Launching back in 1996, the DOA franchise proved popular and quickly became one of the most influential titles in the 3d fighting game space. Particularly for it’s physics as well as it’s gameplay which prompted constant 2 way interaction. It’s good to see the franchise coming back to join the current high fighting games are riding.
