Today is a special day for Gamer Social Club as we join Metacritic, the world’s most respected review aggregator.
Less than two years ago, GSC began as a virtual book club. A place for gamers to come together and share their experiences with a community selected title, something that remains part of our Discord to this day. From there, the website launched and became a place built by gamers, for gamers.
As we are accepted into the special club of Metacritic approved reviewers, we are proud that we have reached this stage staying true to our core values – 1) Being written by gamers, for gamers; 2) No reporting on rumours or ‘leaks’; and 3) Completing every game that we play. We are a global team, born out of Canada but now with writers across The Americas, Europe and Australia.
Last year, Gamer Social Club published over 200 hundred reviews across a wide range of game genres and platforms. Whilst our origins have been in supporting wonderful indie developers with smaller titles, in the last 18 months the website has grown exponentially. The team were delighted to have been given press access to review some of 2025’s biggest titles including Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Doom: The Dark Ages and Avowed to name but a few.
Whilst this is the start of our Metacritic journey, we are very proud of our progress on Open Critic where we have over 260 recognised reviews including two of 2026’s biggest games to-date, 10/10 Cairn and the exceptional Nioh 3 which launches this week.
Working with our developer and publisher partners across the industry including Xbox, EA and more, we look forward to sharing more reviews across both Metacritic and Open Critic this year.
Note to Editors: Gamer Social Club was founded in 2024 with the purpose of bringing rumour-free news and game reviews to gamers. To work with us or for general enquiries, please contact Gamer Social Club Founder, Dan Jackson at: danno@gamersocialclub.ca.
