Akira Toriyama may be resting in peace, but his legacy lives on. The DRAGON BALL franchise is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary and the hits just do not stop coming. During the culmination of the anniversary, we learned about the latest game project and it already has fans buzzing. DRAGON BALL AGE 1000 will feature the debut of a new character designed by Toriyama before his passing. It seems we’ve already caught a few looks at what may be one of his last character designs.
More information around the AGE 1000 project will be announced at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour April 18 – 19, 2026. However, fans are already quick to point out that year 1000 is when the events of Dragon Ball Online occurs. This is also 216 years after the Buu saga for those who have been keeping up with the series.

What else can we expect to see from AGE 1000? Time will tell but it will be interesting to see how this project which has been in the works for about 7 years will contribute to Toriyama’s legacy.
AGE 1000 project wasn’t the only project announced during the anniversary event. Bandai Namco continues to release DLC for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero, a game we covered in GSC’s early days. This new DLC will introduce characters such as Great Demon King Piccolo and Super Android 17 along with new modes and stages to enjoy. This is all evidence that the DRAGON BALL series and universe shows no signs of slowing down soon.
