Street Fighter 6 – Alex Gameplay Trailer Reveal

Capcom Revealed the gameplay for Alex today in Street Fighter 6 and it was what I was expecting but, at the same time it wasn’t. Alex looks like he’ll be a very explosive grappler type character like in previous games but with new moves; it looks like he’s as much of a rushdown as he is a grappler and he might be kind of complex.

Alex steps into the ring.

He has a new Prowler Stance move where he crawls on the ground that goes under projectiles and his trademark Flash Chop alongside his level 2 also look to be anti projectile moves meaning Alex might be quite hard to zone out. This is a nightmare for any character that hates fighting grapplers.

His stance will have multiple applications and leads to 11 different moves including his elbow and his DDT command throw from past games. What sounds the most terrifying is his trademark Lariat which can be charged to grant armor on top of being plus on block.

Alex’s prowler stance has a lot of variety to it.

His back turn mechanic is returning as well. For those unaware, Alex can turn characters around with his flash chop and this changes the application of his throws. It’s confirmed that his OD hyperbomb can side switch if he chooses.

Similar to Marisa, it looks like Alex will be able to charge up some of his buttons but it also looks like he could be more of a brick wall character as some of his moves look designed to halt momentum. It’s also confirmed Alex will have 10 different throws all together.

Alex’s throws are plentiful and change based on back turns.

Overall, Alex looks very well thought out and he, along with Elena, Sagat and Crimson Viper looks like a response to the negative feedback the first 3 characters of Season 2 in Street Fighter 6, most notably Mai who was criticized for being very reliant on homogenized offense.

Alex is set to launch on March 17th 2026 which is 2 days after the Capcom Cup ends. Speculation is that he may come with a balance patch for Street Fighter 6 as well.

Get outta here chump!

A lifelong gamer who enjoys playing on every platform. Eventually, I grew to love fighting games in particular and began to compete and even win competitions for some games, primarily the 2013 revival of killer instinct. Outside of gaming I also have aspirations of being a comic book artist with a few ideas of my own im developing in my head. When reviewing any game I try to keep my mind open and avoid nitpicking too much. It takes a lot for something to detract me from truly enjoying it so I may not focus on smaller details the way some others might do. I enjoy almost any genre, just don't ask me to play horror games or puzzle games.
