We have a pretty long list of games we are excited for here at the GSC, and we just got the release date for one of them, the challenging and esoteric Metroidvania, Before I Go.
Jérôme Coppens, the solo developer of Before I Go, who has been working on the game full-time since 2021, took to social media to announce that Before I Go will be released across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on April 13th, 2026.
According to the game’s Steam page, Before I Go is a punishing sidescrolling Metroidvania set in a “haunting, dreamlike fantasy world” that is suffering from an ominous affliction that has left nearly everyone weak, helpless, and terrified. You play as a young child, untainted by the affliction, who now must go on an otherworldly journey in search of answers.
Players will explore a non-linear, dreamlike world full of parasitic monstrosities and meticulously crafted platforming sections to contend with, incorporating new, more powerful, and dexterous abilities into their skillset.
With a darkly surreal art style that reinforces the game’s foreboding narrative and oppressive world, Before I Go looks to be a game that will stick with people, one way or another.
The demo for Before I Go, which we featured in an issue of the GSC Demo Disc, just received a new update and is still available to try before the game releases.
