One of the most exciting platformers in development, The Eternal Life of Goldman is a hand-crafted adventure that will hopefully finally release this year. At the New Game+ Showcase – which you can recap all the news from here – Goldman’s adventure received a new gameplay, and this really is one to watch. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen gameplay for this one and it has featured at several showcases including the THQ Nordic 2025 Showcase.
With a style similar to Cuphead, Weappy Studio’s new gameplay trailer showcases the titles platforming, boss battles and stunning environments. Old man Goldman’s journey will take us through an archipelago biome including caverns, volcanic regions and grandiose halls. From what can be gauged in the trailer, this will not be a simple platformer with tricky jumping and bouncing sections, creative enemy encounters and more. There are a diverse range of enemies and characters on the archipelago, and defeating them will require upgrades to Goldman’s cane and unlockable abilities.
The multi-layered story of the game is inspired by ancient legends including fairy tales and myths, with a journey to kill ‘the Deity, a mystical creature that everyone talks about, but no one has seen’. The developers promise that there will be something interesting at every turn.
There is no release date for The Eternal Life of Goldman, but the developer have confirmed that a demo will debut as part of the Steam Next Fest, February 2026. As someone who has been watching this one for some time, I can’t wait to check it out.
When The Eternal Life of Goldman releases, it will be available for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Players can wishlist now on Steam. A physical console release is also planned.
