A Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) was held in r/Games with the Larian Studios team, including Game Director Swen Vincke. If you’re not fully up-to-speed on AMA’s on Reddit, here’s the quick and dirty. An AMA is a forum-based Q&A session, where users can ask any questions that they want to know from those providing the AMA. Will they answer every question? Probably not, but the floor is left open.

In the AMA, one user asked whether we could expect a port of Baldur’s Gate 3 on the Switch 2. Vincke’s answer left very little room for interpretation on the matter:
“We would have loved to, but it wasn’t our decision to make.”
There may be speculation as to the why of this decision, we ultimately won’t see this adaptation.
More on Baldur’s Gate 3
While launched in 2023 to PC, Baldur’s Gate 3 had been in an early-access phase since the summer of 2020. Following the August 2023 launch, the title saw adaptations onto PlayStation 5, macOS, and Xbox Series X|S in 2023. Larian Studios put their final major update for this beloved title out in April 2025.
With it’s capturing of the coveted Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023, it’s no shock to note that Baldur’s Gate 3 has sold over 20 million copies as of the end of 2025.
