When a routine mission goes wrong, what should have been exploratory becomes a fight for survival. That’s the premise of Blind Descent where a team of four explorers discover what happened to a missing crew and now find themselves looking to not only survive, but thrive. The world is ready to take you out. Its up to you and perhaps some friends in co-op to make it through.
Showcased as part of the New Game+ Showcase, Blind Descent is a new survival crafting game that takes you to a martian underground. Unfortunately in this planet, it appears most things are out to get you. At least this is how it seems. Awaken in the world, scan your surroundings, and see if you can survive below the surface of the planet. Your AI assistant will encourage you to adapt if you want to survive. Check out the trailer from the showcase below.
Blind Descent has been in the works since 2019 according to the steam page. It appears the team is looking to launch into early access to make sure the game is all it can be. There is a playable demo on Steam for those who can’t wait to dive in. Start building your reliable shelter, check out the world, and even see if you can mutate enough to survive the world. Will you retain who you are or will you change your genetics so much that you’ll be almost unrecognizable? Is your survival plan just being sure to craft all the tools and retaining some semblance of humanity? The choice is yours.

During this early access period players can expect to get regular content updates and narrative expansion. The team does plan for this to work seamlessly with the full final release of Blind Descent. According to their Steam page, the hope is to be in early access for about a year. This is to ensure the game is not only playable but excellent. Thankfully, they do clarify that all core mechanics will be in the game during this time.
For those who are survival crafter fans looking for something a bit more colorful, this could be the game to try out. Blind Descent doesn’t have a release date just yet but it will be coming to Steam, Epic Games, GOG, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. Will you be checking out the demo or adding this to your wishlist to be notified for the release? In the meantime, keep checking back here at GSC for more information as it becomes available.
