Avowed Announced for PlayStation 5 Alongside Anniversary Update

2025 was a huge year for gaming, but there are just a few that rank as close to a perfect as possible. One of those games is Avowed which we reviewed with a score of 9.5 upon release. Unfortunately the time, Avowed wasn’t available for PlayStation 5. This year, that all changes.

During the New Game+ Showcase, Luke Stephen sat down with gameplay director Gabriel Paramo and Lead Character Artist Dimitri Berman. During this interview it was shared that Avowed will be making its way to PlayStation 5. Pre-orders are now live on the PlayStation store. What they did not share right away was the release date. However, we now know the game will release on February 17th for PlayStation 5. This isn’t the only news coming from the team. Those who already own it are also in for a treat.

Releasing on February 17th alongside the PlayStation 5 release will be the anniversary update. Included in the updates will be a new game plus mode, new playable races, a photo mode, and a new weapon type for those to re-enter the world and explore. If you’ve ever wanted to explore the world with your end game armor, you can do so, just keep in mind that everything will be back to level one in your new game plus.

The development team took a lot of feedback from players acknowledging that players love to truly role play their characters and had a strong desire for more playable races. As part of the development process this led to its own difficulties. “Our different races are different sizes, they’re different shapes, they’re a very unique game experience when you play as each one of them in a first-person game specifically. So it was something new to wrangle Avowed.” Yet the team was sure to take this on for players to have the experience they are looking for.

If you haven’t already picked up Avowed, will you be doing so to play on PlayStation 5? With the team having a strong focus on the player experience, this definitely feels like one to give a chance. GSC also has quite a few tips and tricks for you. Let us know if you’ll be revisiting Avowed or picking it up for the first time in the comments below.
