First revealed last year in April, we finally got to see more of the upcoming 3D action-platformer Duskfade as part of the New Game Plus Showcase, as well as confirmation that the game is scheduled to release in 2026.
The new trailer, which premiered at the New Game Plus Showcase, gave us an extended look at the game’s expressive combat, as well as a brief montage of the player character, Zirian, traversing several colourful environments. Check out the Duskfade Official Trailer below.
Developed by Weird Beluga and published by Fireshine Games, Duskfade is a self-proclaimed love letter to classic 3D platformers, with the developers citing games like Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, and Kingdom Hearts as inspirations. Players will guide Zirian and his mechanical pal Cuckoo on a journey across a fantastical land to save his sister from a mysterious Clock Tower that has plunged the world of Duskfade into eternal darkness.
The majority of the 2 and a half minute long trailer shows a thrilling boss fight between Zirian and a mechanical foe called Wrath, full of combo attacks, dodge rolling, and air dashes. A platforming sequence using the hero’s hookshot breaks up the combat, with Zirian pulling himself up between stone pillars to smack the boss back down for serious damage.
The Duskfade Steam page describes the game as a “powerful coming-of-age journey filled with heart, loss, and the courage to face the unknown,” that aims to “rekindle the magic of classic action platformer favourites.”
Duskfade clearly wears its inspirations proudly on its baggy sleeve, and if what we have seen of the game is anything to go by, the team look to be hitting all the right notes. Let’s just hope it plays as well as it looks. Thankfully, there is a demo fans can try out right now on Steam, and after doing that, be sure to check back here on the GSC for our impressions!
Duskfade is slated to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026.
