Developer of Silent Hill 2 Remake Promises Project M Will “Please Fans” of Classic Survival Horror Franchises

Bloober Team has gotten the attention of survival horror fans with comments from CEO Piotr Babieno about their still unannounced Nintendo exclusive, known only as Project M. Speaking with Nintendo Insider, Babieno stated,”All I can say is that fans of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Limbo and Eternal Darkness will feel instantly at home. That said, Project M introduces a bold twist, one that no horror game has explored before. A vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware.”

A bold statement from Babieno, but I, for one, read that with more excitement than skepticism. Bloober Team were tasked with bringing a remake of survival horror classic, Silent Hill 2, to modern consoles which was an incredible remake as we concluded in our review. Gamers know Bloober Team can take an established franchise and do well by it for a remake, but the true test came with the September 2025 release of Cronos: The New Dawn, an original IP they developed and published that garnered positive reviews and helped build faith among the Survival Horror fanbase they’ve cultivated. Check out what we thought of Cronos: The New Dawn right here!

Eternal Darkness Sanity’s Requiem

Survival horror veterans surely noted the mention of oft forgotten Nintendo GameCube classic Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. Babieno cited the Silicon Knights developed game as a classic franchise he’d like to work on. Eternal Darkness featured some truly surprising sanity effects that would range from the horrifying to the hilarious before allowing your heart to return to it’s usual BPM (I won’t spoil the effects, please play it!), so knowing that the 2002 action-adventure/horror is clearly a source of inspiration to Bloober Team could invoke further excitement for the mysterious game. An excitement no doubt shared by Babieno, as he continued in his interview, “You have no idea how hard it is for me not to reveal what Project M truly is – but for now, it’s still too early to talk about it.”

Bloober Team first mentioned Project M during an interview last summer with a Polish website and hinted at their determined mindset for the development of their future release by saying that because they’re cooperating with “the world’s best game creators” that they, “cannot afford to create just a decent game.” For now, horror fans can jot down the tentative name and developer and keep their eyes right here for any updates on Project M as well as Bloober Team’s upcoming remake of the original Silent Hill.

I want theories! Let us know what you think this “bold twist” could be down in the comments!

I moved from the US to Prague back in 2010. Since then I've been the main English teacher and coordinator at a few schools, got myself a family, wrote a couple of children's books with my wife, experienced a good amount of homelessness (best diet ever), and through everything, I've leaned on my love and passion for gaming. I've gone from impressing my dad on the Atari to my students calling me a middle aged gamer and now I get to share my passion with my kids. Best artform ever.
