Eventually all good collaborations must come to an end. Unfortunately, this is true even when it comes to Dead By Daylight with licensed properties, including their first ever licensed property. Dead By Daylight took to Twitter to announce that the Halloween chapter will be leaving the game January 19, 2026. This also appears as an in game message for those who open the game over the next few days.

For players of Dead By Daylight, this doesn’t mean that you’ll never see the Shape or Laurie ever again. Players who have already purchased the Halloween chapter or each character individually will still have access to these characters. Any content unlocked before the January 19, 2026 date will remain with players who unlock the items. If you haven’t already unlocked these characters, never fear. Dead by Daylight is putting the content of the Halloween Chapter on sale by December 22nd so you can grab these for your collection.
Sale? Tell me more.
The Last Chance Sale to grab these characters will vary based on your platform of choice. Dead by Daylight does allow for cross-progression so if you have multiple consoles and have logged into your Behaviour account you can grab this chapter as soon as December 18th at a discount of 50%. Below are all of the on sale dates.
Steam: from December 18 – January 18
Epic, Xbox: from December 19 – January 18
PlayStation: Dec 22 – Jan 21
Switch: Dec 22 – Jan 18
The official FAQ lists Jan 21st as the last day for the sale on PlayStation and we’ll be sure to update this if this date is changed in the future.

That’s the Characters, what about the map?
Unfortunately, even if you do unlock the characters, the Haddonfield Realm map will still be unplayable. That is of course unless Dead by Daylight renews the license in the future. This isn’t outside of the realm of possibility as this has happened in the past with content such as Stranger Things. Of course there is a chance we don’t get the renewal, especially with the upcoming Halloween: The Game coming in 2026. This wouldn’t be the first loss of a character that has a new game coming up as The Cenobite will also appear in the upcoming Hellraiser game.
The map is only one of many questions that players have but thankfully there is a space where all the information can be found. Dead By Daylight is also quick to answer players questions regarding the loss of these characters with a FAQ on their site. It shows the care that Dead By Daylight has put into their player base to ensure no question goes unanswered. DBD reminds players that if they have already unlocked the characters they can still level them up, use their perks, and use any already purchased cosmetics.
If you’re a longtime Dead By Daylight player, does this feel like the end of an era for you? If you haven’t already purchased these characters will you be jumping on those sales?
