Capcom finally confirmed one of the communities biggest hopes during The Game Awards tonight – Leon Kennedy is returning for the newest entry in the series and it doesn’t look like age has nerfed is zombie slaying skills at all. The trailer gives us a bit more backstory into Grace Ashcroft’s FBI case and the kind of villains we’ll expect in the story, as well as tying her story into Leon’s.
The trailer is clearly split between the two characters and shows the kind of mess that the pair will be getting into in this new entry in the longstanding series. A new villain is introduced, thought to be either Wesker or Ozwell Spencer by the various communities scattered around the internet, named Victor Gideon who seems to be wrapped in a shady past unknown to us as of this moment. One can only hope that in the coming months more information about him will be revealed, but for now we can only go off his words in the trailer.

The communities initial reaction to the trailer has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the return of our favorite chainsaw deflecting hero and wondering how he’ll tie into Grace’s story. The trailer more than anything feels like a shot into the future for the series as a whole, while also maintaining what made it so great to begin with.
For all us long time fans of the series such as myself, this reveal has not only sold that the future is bright for Resident Evil as a whole, but that the next entry will one of it’s most ambitious to date. We learned earlier this year that Requim will feature the option to play in either first or third person mode depending on your preference.
Resident Evil Requiem releases across consoles and PC on February 27, 2026. You can pre-order it on Steam here.
