One of the most hotly anticipated indies in gaming, REPLACED finally has a release date. Sad Cat Studios 2.5D cinematic action platformer is now confirmed for a 12 March 2026 release following years of delays. The game will release on PC (Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store) and Xbox Series X/S, as well as Xbox Game Pass. It appears the originally planned Xbox One version of the game is now cancelled.
Just last week the developers confirmed that news was coming for the game, though many expected they’d wait until The Game Awards for an update. Thankfully, we didn’t have that long to wait. In a press release shared to Gamer Social Club, developer Sad Cat Studios said: “This exciting milestone is being marked with a stunning new release date announcement that offers players another chance to dip their toes into the rich, dangerous and atmospheric world that awaits them.”

In the trailer we see some of the game’s beautiful 2.5D pixel art with some incredible lighting effects, brutal action gameplay and some of the locations we will visit in REPLACED’s alt-1980s America. The game takes place following a post-nuclear disaster, with protagonist, R.E.A.C.H, an AI trapped in a humanoid body as he seeks to expose the sinister secrets of Pheonix Corporation.
REPLACED is the newest addition to an already stacked spring of high-quality titles including 007 First Light and Resident Evil Requiem. It’s shaping up to be an incredible 2026 in gaming.
