MIO: Memories In Orbit, the sci-fi metroidvania being developed by Douze Dixièmes, a small French studio previously known for their acclaimed debut, Shady Part of Me, now has a release date, and will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PC and other consoles.
The game’s release date of January 20th, 2026, was revealed in a new trailer, which you can watch below.
In MIO: Memories In Orbit, you play as the titular MIO, a nimble robot that awakens aboard the Vessel, a vast spacecraft that is falling to ruin in the vacuum of space. Once cared for by AIs called Pearls, the ship is now overgrown with vegetation and overrun by malfunctioning machines, and now the Vessel faces imminent shutdown. It’s up to MIO to traverse this dangerous labyrinth, recover their memories, and uncover what led to the collapse.
One of the most interesting details about the game is the fact that the game has been developed using a proprietary, in-house engine developed specifically for the project, which has given the team at Douze Dixièmes the ability to shape every aspect of MIO, from its art direction to its mechanics.
There is a 2-3 hour demo of MIO: Memories In Orbit currently available on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, which we highlighted in a back issue of the GSC Demo Disc.
MIO: Memories In Orbit launches on Jan. 20, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are live today on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 — with a 10% discount* available on all platforms. Pre-orders on Nintendo Switch 2 will open on December 22.
