Ever since its release into Xbox Game Preview at the end of July this year, the team at Obsidian Entertainment has been updating and adding content to their co-op survival game Grounded 2. With regular hotfixes and patches alongside the hefty Hairy and Scary Update in late September, which added the game’s first world boss, AXL the tarantula. While maybe not as impressive, the December Feature Update brings a host of updates, bug fixes, and seasonally appropriate content.
In a post published on the official Obsidian Entertainment website, the team describes Feature Updates as “different from Content Updates (like the Winter Update, more news coming in January 2026). Feature Updates will be smaller updates that focus on but not limited to, tech, performance, and new gameplay mechanics, such as the return of Coziness and the new and improved PEEP.R 2K.”

That’s right, Coziness is back in Grounded 2! If you are not familiar with this addition to the game, Coziness is a system that lets players unlock perks by decorating their base. Players can level up their Coziness to Tier 3, with Tier 4 being added as part of the Winter Update. Below are the blueprints players will unlock as they reach each Coziness Tier.
Level 1:
- Fireplace Hearth and Core Chimney Pieces
- Coziness Hunger Rate Buff
- Clover Awning Pieces
Level 2:
- Thatch Chimney Roof Pieces
- Thatch Awnings
- Acorn Shelf
- Coziness Thirst Rate Buff
- Bunk Bed
Level 3:
- Crow Chimney Roof Chimney pieces
- Crow Awnings Pieces
- Trash Can
- Picture Frame
- Scorpion Lamp
- Scorpion Chair
- Scorpion Bed
It only seems fitting that there are some holiday-themed decorations to help players raise their Coziness in an appropriate style, so it’s a good thing that some features are returning from the original Grounded, namely the Holiday Wreath, Holiday Sign Set, and a redesigned Holiday Tree, to name a few. Holiday Lights is a new decorative option that has been included, with plenty of ambient details added throughout the game, from colourful lights and Christmas sounds around the Park, to an updated main menu key art and music theme.

The other highlight from the December Feature Update is the new and improved PEEP.R 2K, with more features for the PEEP.R coming as part of the Winter Update. Players can use the device in both first and third-person views, alongside several other updates and improvements:
- The PEEP.R now includes the Chopping list, it’s scrollable and collapsible.
- The PEEP.R now includes a dynamic compass icon, to help players navigate and orient themselves.
- Resource tracker helps you locate the resources that are marked in the Resource finder view of the map, tracked resources are highlighted when they are in the player vicinity. This option can be activated and de-activated.
. - Backpack display rules have changed a bit. You will now see the HUD of the first backpack you dropped when dying. Opening the PEEP.R will now let you see all of them.
. - You can now also force the display of more backpacks in the PEEP.R, additionally you can decide to hide trail markers icons from your HUD in the PEEP.R view.

Grounded 2′ December Feature Update also comes with a long list of bug fixes, which you can see in full on the Obsidian Entertainment website, and players can expect an overall smoother gameplay experience with the game being updated to Unreal 5.6.1, improving FPS and lowering stuttering/hitching. PC fans can also enjoy support for DLSS and FSR Upscaling!
This Feature Update ticks several items off the Grounded 2 Early Access Roadmap, but it seems we will have to continue surviving and thriving in Brookhollow Park until January 2026 to find out what the Winter Update will bring.
