Let it Die: Inferno Uses Significant AI Content Generation

Realistically, it is only a matter of time until generative AI enters the mainstream of video game development. Already creeping into some games, the practice that cuts down developer time, resource and more is an already despised practice amongst gaming communities. Recently, the publisher of lukewarm received title, Hotel Barcelona confirmed they would remove generative AI following a fan backlash.

Developer Supertrick Games have now, likely unwillingly, confirmed that generative AI is used in development of their new title, Let it Die: Inferno, the follow up to F2P action survival game, Let it Die. Inferno is a PvEvP rogue-lite survival game that arrives on PlayStation 5 and Steam on 3 – 4 December 2025 depending on where you are in the world, it was announced during the September 2025 State of Play.

Given the reception to AI content generation by gamers, the developers will have been reluctant to have made this public. But thankfully to Steam’s store policies, we’re able to learn about how AI is used in development of games sold via their storefront. Let it Die: Inferno’s page currently states:

AI-generated content has been used and then edited by our team for certain parts of the in-game voices, music, and graphics.

This content includes:
Background signboard textures
Records illustrations
InfoCast videos
Voices and music

One of the most common concerns about AI content generation in gaming is the lack of creative integrity. Based on the above, it looks like much of the more creative side of development – visuals, audio and more – will to at some extent at least be AI generated.

With this now in the public domain, Let it Die: Inferno will be releasing with a bad reputation that will be hard for the developer and publisher to remove from players’ minds.
