Death Stranding 2 PC Launch Looms as ESRB Rating Secured

One of the biggest games of the year, both commercially and critically, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been rated by the ESRB for PC, following it’s PlayStation 5 launch in June of this year.

The listing, which confirms the Mature ‘M’ rating for Windows PC has been spotted on the ESRB’s official webpage:

Death Stranding 2 PC ESRB listing

Offering minor spoilers, the rating says the reason for the M rating is pretty clear: “Some sequences depict additional acts of violence and/or gore: a man’s hands and legs sliced off by a robotic samurai; a man set on fire in a fantastical manner; a man cut in half by a giant machine. The word “f**k” is heard in the game.”. Gruesome stuff indeed.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is an incredible title which we awarded a very rare 10/10 in our review, saying: “Its story is heartfelt, its world is stunning, and its gameplay loop is more engaging and refined than ever”.

So, when will the official announcement arrive? Death Stranding creator, Hideo Kojima and The Game Awards executive and host, Geoff Keighley, are known to be very good friends with Kojima a frequent face at the annual December awards event. With mere weeks to go until The Game Awards 2025 and the game featuring in many categories, it would be the logical time to expect an announcement.

Death Stranding 2 Xbox Release

The ESRB listing does not include an Xbox Series X/S version of Death Stranding 2. The original arrived on Xbox Series consoles in its Definitive Edition form out of nowhere in November 2024, 5 years after the PlayStation 4 release. If the same trajectory is to be followed, we may see Death Stranding 2 on Xbox in June 2030. Yikes!
