Red Dead Redemption is getting a fresh lick of paint and a re-release this winter!
Making the announcement today, after a swirl of speculation earlier in the week, Rockstar confirmed that the much-ballyhooed Western game will be returning with all the bells and whistles on 2 December 2025.
Releasing with both the base game and the much-loved DLC, Undead Nightmare, Red Dead Redemtpion’s re-release will be available on Android, iOS, Netflix, PS5, Switch 2 and Xbox Series consoles.
If you’re unfamiliar with Red Dead Redemption, it takes place immediately after the events of the prequel sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2. You step into the shoes of John Marston who is trying to bury his “blood stained past”. Undead Nightmare is a zombie-laden horror DLC where a zombie plague has taken over. This new release includes all bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition of the game. It should be noted that there is no multiplayer mode in this version!

Rockstar have promised “mobile-friendly control options” for Android and iOS users. The Netflix version will be available to these users with their subscription come 2 December. PS5 and Xbox Series players will enjoy 60fps with enhanced image quality, HDR support, and up to 4K resolution. The Switch 2 versioon has support for DLSS, mouse controls, HDR and 60fps.
Even better news, and perhaps a little unexpected for Rockstar, if you already own Red Dead Redemption on PS4, Nintnedo Switch, the backwards compatible Xbox One version, you’ll get to upgrade to the enhanced versioon for free when it releases on 2 December. PlayStation and Switch players will be able to continue with their save on the newer consoles. The Xbox One backwards-compatible version will already have this feature.
In addition, the enhanced Red Dead Redemption will alsoo be available in the PS Plus Game Catalog from 2 December.
