Happy N7 Day 2025, Commanders!
This year’s N7 Day celebration comes with an exciting update straight from BioWare Executive Producer Mike Gamble, who shared a special post on the official Bioware Blog.
The Next Mass Effect and a TV Show on the Horizon
According to Gamble, the team is “hard at work on the next iteration of the Mass Effect franchise”, a statement sure to reignite the fandoms curiosity. Even more exciting, Gamble confirmed that a Mass Effect TV series is officially in the works in partnership with Amazon. The show is set after the original trilogy and will follow a brand-new story within the Mass Effect universe.
While there hasn’t been a new trailer since the 2023 N7 Day teaser, fans can likely expect more news soon. Gamble’s post, however, wasn’t without its trademark mystery. Known for his cryptic tendencies, he ended the update with a cheeky disclaimer:
“PS – Disclaimer: there is no secret game information to be gleaned by anything I’m saying today, I promise.”
Naturally, this put eager internet sleuths to work.
A Hidden Message in Gamble’s Post
Fans quickly noticed a series of italicized letters and words scattered throughout the blog — which, when pieced together, spell Mass Effect, URL, Krogan, and N7.
As usual, code crackers wasted no time decoding the hidden message. When combined, the phrase “URL Krogan N7” appears to point toward a classic 2012 N7 Day Challenge Weekend blog post titled Operation: Goliath.
Remembering Operation Goliath
For those who remember, Operation Goliath was the very first community challenge event in Mass Effect 3, tasking players with eliminating the Reapers’ terrifying turian–krogan hybrid troops known as “Brutes.”
The community’s goal? A combined one million Brute kills. Success earned all participating N7 squads special victory and commendation packs that included exclusive N7 weapons.
From the original BioWare Blog (March 16, 2012):
“Citadel Allied Command is mounting a galaxy-wide operation to cripple the Reapers’ shock troops: the turian–krogan hybrids known as ‘brutes.’ To flush out Reaper ground forces, N7 teams are deploying to engage the enemy in key theaters. Heavy reinforcements are expected anywhere fighting begins.”
With Gamble’s teaser bringing us full circle back to the early days of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, fans can’t help but wonder — could this hint at a return of N7 operations, or perhaps a multiplayer revival in the upcoming game?

What Does the N7 Code Mean?
It’s not yet clear what the cryptic N7 Day code truly means or why it references the classic Mass Effect 3 multiplayer mission. Perhaps the next Mass Effect will heavily feature the Krogans? Depending on your ending in Mass Effect 3, you either helped save their race or doomed them to infertility.
It could also be teasing the return of multiplayer in Mass Effect 5. Personally, I’d love to see it — I spent hundreds of hours in Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer, and it remains one of the best cooperative experiences BioWare ever delivered.
Keep Watching the Stars
In the meantime, keep an eye on BioWare’s socials for possible crossover content appearing in Skate, Apex Legends, Battlefield 2042, Eververse, and more.
