In 2019 a short indie with Mirror’s Edge like platforming came to Xbox and was one of the best small titles I played that year. Ascendance – First Horizon was a relaxed 3D platformer with delightfully bright colours, satisfying gameplay and a perfect 2-3 hour runtime.
Since then, there’s been no follow up to the title despite the name ‘First’ being in the title. However with seemingly no marketing, a sequel is real and will launch on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation just in time for the Christmas holidays.
ONEVISION GAMES’ Ascendance Unbound is the title of the new entry that looks to bring more of the same gameplay, zen music and colourful scalable worlds for us to traverse.

If you didn’t play Ascendance – First Horizon, the game sees you climb and traverse levels with ever-growing platforms that grow as you reach checkpoints and find collectibles. It’s a budget price title on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch and is regularly on sale. It’s a popular one with achievement / trophy hunters too.
The Ascendance Unbound Xbox store listing confirms up to 120fps for Xbox Series consoles, one can likely expect the same on PlayStation 5. The extra frames from the original should make traversing the areas all the more fluid.

Ascendance Unbound arrives on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on December 12 2025.
Will you be picking up the Ascendance Unbound? Did you play the original? Come and meet us and talk all about it in our friendly and active Gamer Social Club Discord.
