It seems Nintendo has finally remembered that it’s releasing Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, as a new trailer has emerged exactly one month out from the game’s launch. The new trailer teases new environments, enemies, bosses, and more, in a brief look at the game ahead of its much anticipated release.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was first announced just three months after the launch of the Nintendo Switch, during E3 2017. Since then the game has endured a tumultuous development cycle, switching hands from Bandai Namco to original trilogy developer Retro Studios in early 2019, which seemingly preceded a rebuilding and uphiring of the team following its rebooted development. During this time, Retro Studios even managed to release 2023’s Metroid Prime Remastered.
Now, after some spotty signs of life throughout the year as part of the Nintendo Switch 2’s marketing, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond’s marketing campaign has seemingly begun. With the game slated for a December 4th launch, Nintendo has released a trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2 version titled “Survive”, which showcases some of Samus’s new powers in action and introduces some new environments and enemies including some wolf looking creatures in a snow-covered biome and a ending with a new look at returning villain Sylux.
Building off of the footage shown during September’s Nintendo Direct, we also get a new look at Samus’s Vi-0-La motorcycle, including a cute Akira reference because of course there is. It’s unlikely that this is the last look at the game before launch, so perhaps this is Nintendo’s way of teasing us ahead of a larger “Overview” trailer or even a Metroid Prime 4 Direct later this month. One can hope.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases on December 4 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
