Releasing games in an episodic format may be seen as risky as players may wait for all episodes to be out, but it seems to be working for Adhoc Studio. The studio took to Twitter/X today to announce the fantastic feat along with a bit of the humor.
2 days. 80 million copies sold.

Would've been nice.
We sold 1 Million in 10 days though.
Still pretty good. pic.twitter.com/PwuJnI0HT7
For those who missed the entry in our July demo disc or have not yet heard of Dispatch we’ll give you the TLDR. Dispatch, the debut title from Adhoc Studio, plays much like a Telltale game. This should be of no surprise to anyone as this comes from the writers and directors of Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us.
Play as Robert Robertson, a superhero who damaged his suit so bad, and now has to dispatch ex-supervillains as they save Los Angeles from, well villains and other life instances. Send your crew out to rescue the cat from the tree, break up bar fights, or stop villains from a robbery. Of course, it won’t be easy and sometimes you’ll have to hack into the security systems. You also have to manage the relationships between your ex-supervillains. Watch out as they may sabotage each other to move up the rankings of the Phoenix Program. That’s right, these villains, must like phoenixes, are given the chance to rise again as heroes through this program. All of that will be up to you. Can you can keep them doing the right work in the right way?
Of course, this isn’t just a dispatch game. As Robert, you also must navigate the relationships between your crew, your coworkers, and your boss. How many HR violations will you be getting as Robert, if any? Dispatch introduces you to quite a cast of characters in the first two episodes each with their own personality, flaws, and yes, superpowers.

The interesting thing to this success is that while Dispatch has sold 1 million copies in 10 days, the game is only halfway released. As of this posting, Dispatch has released the first four episodes with four more to go. For those who have also purchased the Digital Deluxe edition, they have access to art books and comic books. Keep in mind not all of the content is out here either. New comic issues and art book content becomes accessible with each weekly release. The comics give you more details into each character you engage with. It’s worth engaging with the extra content to learn more about the characters although this may influence your decisions along the way.

Have you picked up Dispatch yet or will you help them cross the 2 million mark? If you are waiting for all episodes to be out, you don’t have much longer to wait. The final two episodes release November 12th. How will this story end for Robert? Are these ex-supervillains redeemable? Will Robert still have a job after some of these interactions with certain members of the crew? The choices are yours, truly, when you play Dispatch.
Dispatch episodes 1-4 are currently available on PlayStation 5 and Steam. You only need to purchase Dispatch once to gain full access to all 8 episodes.
