Bully Online: Fans Rebuild Rockstar’s Cult Classic for Multiplayer Madness

It looks like class is back in session at Bullworth Academy, with the announcement of Bully Online, a fan-made version of Rockstar’s schoolyard story, which will let fans relive the game with their friends, so now there is no excuse to bunk off school!

The announcement was made on Twitter/X by one of the project’s creators, who goes by “SWEGTA” online, along with a trailer/gameplay breakdown video.“After years of development, I’m glad to finally announce that BULLY ONLINE is happening” revealed SWEGTA, “Minigames, roleplay, freeroam, and a ton of exclusive content — Made by fans for the fans.”

You can check out the announcement trailer for Bully Online below.

Bully Online is a fan-made mod for the Scholarship Edition of the game, adding multiplayer functionality to let players run amok across the town of Bullworth, including the iconic Bullworth Academy. Players can enjoy a variety of minigames, interacting with NPCs, driving around in custom vehicles, taking part in some roleplay, or just scrapping in all-out multiplayer mayhem!

The devs have even gone as far as to add a full inventory system, which allows players to earn currency from completing minigames or finding and trading items, which can then be used to buy items, housing, etc. Don’t worry, you can lock your newly bought car so no one else can steal it, as long as you haven’t lost the keys!

In the gameplay breakdown portion of the video, we get a closer look at a couple of the minigames. Players can race through the streets of Bullworth using custom vehicles, as well as enjoy the mod’s FPS minigame, Rat Wars, putting guns into the hands of large rodents.

The dev team currently has a private server for Bully Online, but they plan to invite people who support the project via Ko-fi as soon as December of this year. Supporters will also get a number of other benefits and rewards for their support, including BTS content such as videos and developer commentary, a specially coloured nametag in-game, priority when joining the server, an in-game camera that lets you take and save up to 10 photos you can show your friends, and more.

While we may never get Bully 2, at least the fans are here to help us relive those formative years back at Bullworth Academy!
