The upcoming fighting game, Avatar Legends will be getting a closed alpha play test soon. 4 characters will be playable in the alpha, Aang, Katara, Korra and Zuko. No word on the official date for the closed alpha only that it’s coming soon.
On top of the announcement for a closed alpha, a better look at the gameplay was also given. The game, as advertised looks to be very mobile. Characters will have air dashes, super jumps and it looks like backsteps and sidesteps will be a defensive mechanic. The example given is Korra sidestepping some of Aang’s attacks.

In the gameplay trailer we see three characters: Aang, Korra and Zuko. Aang looks like he could be a bit of an all rounder with a mix of highly evasive moves as well as longer range moves to control space but, also looks to have good mix ups in close range as well. Korra and Zuko both looked more like they’ll be different kinds of heavy rush down characters with Zuko sporting a dive kick similar to characters like Cammy in street fighter and Korra showing off slide moves to get in similar to characters like orchid from killer instinct or Sub zero in Mortal Kombat, while also having a dive kick although it looked much slower than Zuko’s.

Katara wasn’t shown off, nor was anything about the assist system Avatar Legends will have. Perhaps we’ll see more on them as we get closer to the play test.
An exciting announcement is that fighting game legend, Justin Wong, will also be the ambassador for the game. As someone who competes in fighters, it’s a good call as Justin understands the games on a level that most won’t and will be good at explaining mechanics for the game as they come into detail more.
There’s no release date for Avatar Legends yet. All we know is that it looks to be available in 2026. So far PC (Steam) is the only platform for players to wishlist and save. It would be surprising if Avatar Legends doesn’t receive a console release. A trailer for the announcement as well as the game play is viewable below.
