A long-awaited indie has finally received a release date, and it’s right around the corner. Dead Static Drive, a survival-horror game from developer Reuben Games out of Australia have said via a press release that the game will release on November 5th for Xbox and PC, as well as day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Cleverly marketed as “Grand Theft Cthulhu”, Dead Static Drive will task players with scavenging for parts in order to survive a 1980’s America that has become a nightmare. You will play as Hearst, a wayward traveler who is following a cryptic letter through the country.

The developers say the game is heavily influenced by the work of fiction authors T.E.D. Klein, Gene Wolfe & Ramsey Campbell as well as filmmaker David Lynch. Reuben studios hopes that Dead Static Drive will invoke images of an America that is no more in todays society, where a car and a full tank of gas meant anything felt possible.
With you and your Cthulhu-car, some comparisons have been drawn to the recent Pacific Drive. While the styling of both games is quite different, they do have some similarities in the sense that both revolve around exploring parts of America in a ravaged America.

Dead Static Drive was first revealed all the way back in 2017. It’s been a long, winding road to get to it’s release date, but we only have a couple more weeks to wait now.
