The war across the afterlife rages on in 33 Immortals, with the team at Thunder Lotus Games continuing to support and update their unique multiplayer cooperative action roguelite. For their most recent announcement, the devs took to Twitch to host a livestream to share some exciting news with their fans, and inadvertently revealed some other details meant to be kept secret!
The livestream, which was held on Thursday, October 23rd, was hosted by Mederic Belair and Malo Ayral, Community Manager and Game Designer for 33 Immortals, respectively. Over the course of about 90 minutes, the duo answered a few fan questions while showcasing the two new weapons that will be added to the game: the Glaive of Temperance and the Crossbows of Pride. They also shared details on other changes coming to the game, like enemy armor, while seemingly letting slip other features they are working on!
Sadly, no date was given as to when players can expect this new content, with the devs just saying it is “coming soon”. However, they did tease that fans will want to keep an eye on the ID@Xbox showcase on October 28th!
You can watch the VOD (video on demand) of the livestream on the official Thunder Lotus Games Twitch channel.
New Weapons
These two new weapons took between four and five months to develop, bringing the total number of (soon to be) available weapons to six, with two more weapons still planned to be added.

The Glaive of Temperance is a weapon that demands finesse, with a focus on repositioning and keeping enemies at a certain distance to achieve maximum damage. It is also the first weapon in 33 Immortals that has an Ability, Backstep, that does not do damage, instead allowing the player to move back with full invulnerability during the ability, and also recovers Temperance (3 charges per Backstep, can be used twice before recharging), the weapon’s resource. Keeping Temperance about 50% (3 of 6 charges) makes your attacks hit for extra damage, with a charge being used with each attack.
The Glaive’s Co-op Power, Aftershock, gives the player a number of charges of Aftershock based on their Empathy stat. Each attack that hits at least one enemy uses a charge, which then hits all affected enemies for a second lot of heavy damage and staggers them. The Glaive of Temperance looks to trade constant damage output for the highest damage output.

The Crossbows of Pride are a new ranged weapon for Damned Souls to enjoy, and the dev team has gone to great lengths to make sure it feels distinct from the Bow of Hope. Players who enjoy focusing down a single target will want to try out these dual crossbows, as they are all about Branding a target to deliver damage at a speed not yet seen in 33 Immortals! This is achieved by holding down the heavy attack to enter a rapid fire state that uses up Pride, which you get back from hitting Branded enemies.
The Crossbows of Pride’s Co-op Power calls in a stationary turret that automatically attacks nearby enemies, handy for bosses or when it’s getting a bit crowded! Possibly the best detail about this particular weapon is the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure “Stance” pose your character makes when throwing the peacock-feather-like Brand projectile. Excellent work, animators!
Armor Break
Enemies in 33 Immortals are also getting reworked, with enemy armor being introduced, which intends to shake up combat gameplay and make heavy attacks more important. Light attacks will do next to nothing to enemies, but heavy attacks reduce enemy armor. Reducing an enemy’s armor to zero procs Armor Break, which stuns the enemy briefly. With no armor, all attacks are back on the table. Certain Relics are also getting a rework to bring them in line with the new Armor Break system.

This feels like a pretty big overhaul to 33 Immortals’ combat, and we are interested to see how the fanbase reacts to such big changes. That covers what was planned for the stream. Now, let’s have a look at some of the details that the devs appeared to let slip!
Ordeal System
Originally shown off by accident, Mederic and Malo did show fans the Ordeal System, a new feature that will let players temporarily lower their stats and abilities for more of a challenge, with the promise of unique rewards!
New Elite enemies were spotted during the livestream, but were hastily pushed out of shot, and we also got a glimpse of Illuminations, new character backgrounds that will appear on the Victory/Defeat screen (think Call of Duty Calling Cards).

It is great to see these new additions coming to 33 Immortals, but there is a worry about whether it will be enough to keep the player base happy and healthy. There are still quite a few things missing from the game’s Early Access Roadmap that Thunder Lotus revealed earlier this year, including the ability to decorate the Dark Woods, the game’s hub, and Private Sessions. Mederic addressed this, stating that fans can expect an updated Roadmap alongside the next update to 33 Immortals.
The team confirmed their commitment to fully releasing 33 Immortals in 2026 during the last update back in July, and when asked by a fan during the livestream how they felt about the game, Mederic was positive, saying:
“We are pretty happy with where it is going to be. Right now, we are between patches, so things are on the slower side, which is fine. The ebb and flow of Early Access is very normal and is something we are expecting… As for the next update, we are really, really stoked.”
Damned Souls wanting to learn more would do well to mark their calendars for October 28th and tune into the ID@Xbox Showcase.
