I’m gonna go ahead and say it: Baby Steps is probably one of the best open worlds I have experienced. The combination of optional collectibles with no trophies attached to them, yet exciting to discover, optional wacky cutscenes and locales that can only be seen if you’re determined and curious enough to painfully walk towards it, and that eff-it mentality that happens when you lose your patience and move on, essentially taking away that feeling of FOMO.

Everything you experience is by choice, with nothing really “forcing” you to do it. I am a notoriously lost person when it comes to video games, with no sense of direction. I always, ALWAYS need a map. However, with Baby Steps, I never truly felt lost. Though a map would’ve been nice, I never needed it.
Luckily, Baby Steps has an awesome community of real, crazy, masochistic, and dedicated group of gamers, who recreated the world and created a map, complete with location markers!

Honestly, if I had this map available to me when I first played the game, it would’ve made my experience easier, but not necessarily better, as the reward for your patience and determination is the discovery of something cool. However, it would’ve made explaining the trophy guides much simpler!
