Battlefield 6 Ladder Launching is Getting Patched, Sadly

It wouldn’t be a Battlefield, or, in fact an EA launch without some bugs. Though, by comparison to the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042 and the notorious mess of Battlefield 4, Battlefield 6 seems to be relatively stable.

The servers are well and truly alive, with record breaking numbers for an EA game on Steam and an all-time peak of over 650k (credit: Steam Charts). Despite this, aside from some launch day server queues, players are seemingly getting into lobbies in little time.

It is a return to form for the series, in our review we said: “The story might miss a few beats, but the multiplayer more than makes up for it once the bullets start flying”.

‘Ladder launch’

As with any game that generates millions of players across the launch weekend, there’s always going to be an exploit or two to be found in the sandbox.

One such found exploit is the ‘ladder launch’ which allows players to use the Assault classes’ ladder – normally placed to enable alternative, otherwise unscalable routes towards the game’s objectives – to be used as a springboard.

In a series of clips that have appeared online over the last few days, players can be seen walking up the ladders then springboarding around to out manoeuvre the enemy.

Here’s some players jumping all over the place:

I’ve witnessed players springboarding around the map myself and it is rather amusing. It certainly needs patched out, but it’s dumb fun whilst it lasts.

Now, series Producer David Sirland has commented on the known bugs including ‘ladder launching’ to say they will be squashed:

“Please keep the feedback coming! With the first weekend for BF6 in the wild, we are bound to have found issues, problems, stuff you like to see change – perhaps even praise? It’s still all good, I want to know. And the team is eager to show you how much we care!”
