The Last Caretaker Launches into Early Access on November 6th

Channel 37, a boutique developer based in Finland, is pleased to reveal that their game, The Last Caretaker, will launch into early access on Steam and the Epic Games Store in November. The Last Caretaker is a survival-crafting adventure set in a vast ocean world where you are the last caretaker, a robot charged with a single task: save humanity.

Watch the announcement trailer below to get a first look at The Last Caretaker.

You are the last caretaker, a reawakened machine tasked with saving the future of the human race by saving human seeds from a desolate earth, nurturing them, and launching them toward humanity’s last settlement in space.

Offering a rich narrative to discover across a world shaped by humanity’s choices and consequences, you’ll uncover, step by step, the story behind your awakening, the echoes of those who came before, and the ultimate question of what it truly means to be human.

The Last Caretaker is a thoughtful take on the survival-crafting genre featuring a modular crafting system and resource-based combat with unrivalled depth.

Dynamic Resource Management: Your resources are your means of survival. Make choices between crafting weapons for offense or saving your materials for an easy exit from fearsome mechanical foes.

Immersive Worldbuilding: Explore a vast ocean world filled with abandoned structures, mysterious laboratories, and humanity’s last remaining harbours.

Crafting & Recycling: The world is your salvage yard. Dismantle abandoned structures, tear down machinery, and decide what is worth carrying to the recycler to craft weapons, power grids, and tools in a dynamic and deep crafting system.

In the age of half-baked Early Access titles with little hope or vision behind them, I’m excited that The Last Caretaker looks to be a game that mixes the best of both worlds. Bolstering an expansive ocean setting with tons for you to craft and explore with the sci-fi aspects of games such as No Man’s Sky and Subnautica, we as the community can only hope they deliver on their vision, as it looks to be a match made in heaven.

The Last Caretaker will launch into early access on Steam and the Epic Games Store on November 6th, 2025. Priced at $34.99 / €29.99 / £26.99

What do you think of what we’ve seen so far from The Last Caretaker? Does it bring enough to the table to stand out amongst the dozens of titles in the genre, or is it destined to sink under the weight of its ambitions?
