Vantage Studios Announced as Ubisoft/Tencent Subsidiary

Ubisoft Vantage Studios

We now finally have a name for the new collaboration between Ubisoft and Tencent. This new subsidiary, now called Vantage Studios, will responsible for development on some of the bigger Ubisoft properties. Included in these series are Far Cry, Rainbow Six Siege, as well as the much beloved Assassin’s Creed.

What will be the next venture in the Assassin’s Creed universe for this new collaborative effort?

Vantage Studios reportedly composed of roughly 2,300 employees that are spread across several Ubisoft Teams. These include teams from Montreal, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Sofia, and Barcelona. Additionally, Vantage Studios will be given more autonomy to these development teams with regards to their respective projects. This makes sense from the stance of allowing for more flexibility when it comes to projects.

The creation of Vantage Studios, if you’re tapped into the game development industry, has been brewing for some time. Going back to early 2025, there have been news circulating of a pending join venture between Ubisoft and China-based Tencent. But what role is Tencent going to play in the actual collaboration? For starters, the company will now have roughly a 25% stake in Vantage. This will be coupled with an advisory role to Vantage Studios leadership.

Vantage Studios Leadership

Speaking of leadership, it is set in stone that both Christopher Derennes and Charlie Guillemot will be heading up Vantage Studios. Reportedly, Derennes and Guillemot will retain full control over both creative and business aspects of Vantage, despite Tencent’s sizable role within the company. There is significant hope that these changes will allow Ubisoft to lurch forward from several years of less-than stellar performance and allow for more fluidity in the ever evolving gaming industry.
