Baby Steps – Most Careful Person Trophy Guide

There are a total of 12 Trophies to unlock in Baby Steps, typically in an attempt to test your patience as you gather items and painfully take steps towards its delivery. Oftentimes, the goal to achieve the trophy is simple, but everything is always seemingly out of your reach.

Read our Baby Steps review if you’re interested in our full thoughts on the game.

Baby Steps is an open world with no maps. It’s also a game with several ways to reach the objective: take the direct, yet difficult and dangerous route, or the much longer, but safer route. It’s important to pay attention and take note of interesting landmarks. This is what we’ll use in order to help you get through these objectives.

Most Careful Person

Here is our guide for the Most Careful Person trophy, which asks you to return the most careful person’s vase without breaking it. You can head towards this trophy as soon as the cutscene for the third checkpoint completes. In the Poisoned Slopes, you’ll need to trudge along slowly through thickets, mossy and wet footing, and grassy areas. The area can be quite open in most areas, with lots of tall cliffs and heights you can attempt to scale, should you choose to do so.

I know you took my VASE: bring it to the FIRETOWER

You are quickly made aware of the next delivery task. This is definitely the easiest part of this trophy. Now that’s settled, it’s time to find the vase that we apparently took. To do so, just follow along past this signage. The easiest way for me to describe which way to go is to hug the left “edge” of the Poisoned Slopes, or check out these screenshots of some landmarks that indicate that you are headed to the correct location!

“Finding” the Vase

Once you reach this area, you’re nearly at the vase! Just “swim” across, heading towards the opening on the right side of those trees from the screenshot above. Once you do, you’ll see a small cave-like opening, which is the location of the vase.

WARNING: Read BEFORE You Grab The Vase!

Full disclosure before we continue:

I did NOT get this trophy

Once you grab the vase and attempt to walk away, the man will speak to you, and you will not be able to put the vase down, and will be forced to deliver it without it breaking.

The requirement of the trophy is “return the most careful person’s vase WITHOUT breaking it”. Unfortunately, my curiosity took over, and I became curious as to what would happen if the vase DID break. Other games that ask you to deliver a thing without getting hit or dying often allow you to restart the task, as the item would just respawn at the beginning.

Once you break the vase, it’s broken for the rest of this playthrough.

However, even if my vase broke, this does not mean that I can’t help plot you the route in order for you to accomplish this delivery.

Full delivery without falling

The best-case scenario is that you would see the vase, leave it for now, locate the firetower, and plot a course that ensures a safe delivery! This is what you have us for! Below is the best path to take in order to deliver the vase safely. If you don’t believe me, I have an unedited video that shows the path (just pretend I am holding a vase) from where you grab the vase, all the way to the firetower.

Start from 3:04 for delivery from start to finish

TIPS:

  • Take careful time with your steps, but once you take them, be confident and start the next one. Once you plan your one foot and lift the other, it acts like an anchor, allowing Nate to balance himself, as long as the footing is not slippery.
  • You can climb relatively slippery surfaces or slightly inclined ones without proper footing, as long as you go QUICKLY.
  • If you find that you have no choice but to slip downwards, you can let it happen, just make sure you angle your body in a way that you won’t fall forwards.
  • READ this ahead (or watch the video) so you know where you are going! Don’t be silly like me and break your vase due to not being prepared.
  • The game “tricks” you by showing you some “obvious” paths to take, but are incorrect

Facing away from the vase cave, make a left up these steps. Climb all the way to the top. This first task is quite simple, but don’t be complacent!

Once you reach the top, you’ll see the firetower destination in the distance. Stay to the left, walking slowly through the grassy part. Be careful of small hidden things that could trip you up if you aren’t careful.

As you’re walking through the grassy part, look to the left and go in that direction upwards. Same as the previous climb, this is relatively simple.

Follow the narrow ledge until you are above this stone archway. From here, technically, you can choose to go straight, following the perimeter, or go on top of the archway; however, both take you to the same muddy slope. I did both routes for science, and I found this upcoming path to be both easier and safer.

This is the first of two “difficult” steps you’ll make during this trek.

Once you’re through, you’ll be met with a muddy slope with rocks as footing. Most of these will be simple. Just make sure that you take careful strides, planting your foot appropriately. If you feel as if you really need to step in the mud, you can do so as long as you do it quickly.

Once you’re through the muddy slope, you’re practically there! Don’t muck it up during the homestretch and you’ll be golden! Am I slightly jealous and sad that I didn’t get the trophy? Yes and no. Luckily, I’m not a trophy hunter, but I still hope that we were at least able to help with getting yours done!

That was our Most Careful Person Trophy Guide for Baby Steps! We hope you found it helpful and that you didn’t break any controllers or your patience along the way! We’ll have more guides for Baby Steps soon as we play more through the game!
