Baby Steps – Most Perceptive Person Trophy Guide

There are a total of 12 Trophies to unlock in Baby Steps, typically in an attempt to test your patience as you gather items and painfully take steps towards its delivery. Oftentimes, the goal to achieve the trophy is simple, but everything is always seemingly out of your reach.

Read our review of Baby Steps if you’re interested in our full thoughts on the game.

Baby Steps is an open world with no maps. It’s also a game with several ways to reach the objective: take the direct, yet difficult and dangerous route, or the much longer, but safer route. It’s important to pay attention and take note of interesting landmarks. This is what we’ll use in order to help you get through these objectives.

Most Perceptive Person

Here is our guide for the Most Perceptive Person trophy that asks you to find and return the keys of the most perceptive person. This trophy starts in the Poison Forest after the second checkpoint (and meeting a very hung donkey). You’ll need to trudge along slowly through thickets, mossy and wet footing, and grassy areas. It’s dark due to the trees, and the weather sucks, so follow along closely to complete this task.

Lost Keys: If Found, Return To Firetower

You’ll first encounter the goal for this Most Perceptive Person as you walk through the forest. You’ll soon encounter tall areas where you need to carefully walk through thin wooden planks overlooking a river.

While scaling, you should be able to spot a big red-brick tower in the distance. Aim for that direction and finally touch grass. You want to get to the location in the images above. Once you do, you’ll be in the correct location and the best starting point to look for some keys!

Head towards that big rock just past the signage and veer to the left. You’ll soon see a cabin amongst the trees!

It's Key Time For Some Breaking & Entering

Of course, I should’ve known that the best way to look for keys is to find them in their home. It’s always where it’s not needed! Anyways, let’s break in! Sadly, we have minimal use of our hands and arms, so we’ll use the only tool we have for us, which is our feet!

We’re going to get into the house through the roof. I’ve scoped it out, and there is an opening from up top. The only location that has some footing is by this tree, and its branches line up perfectly to where we can reach the rooftop.

Since this is a written guide, I’ll show the necessary steps to make this climb as painless as possible (though, if you attempted to climb that Tower you saw in the distance, this should be a much easier climb by comparison).

TIPS:

  • You have more control than you think when it comes to placing your steps
  • Wiggle your legs around to get around corners or reach a higher footing
  • Be aware of your camera angle, moving your camera moves his torso, which changes his climb angle

Start with your right foot on the right log, taking turns as you scale the logs. Once you plant your right foot for the second time, turn your body around to face the tree and place your left foot on the tree.

Continue along the tree branch until you reach the end. Again, just watch your footing. It’s relatively stable here, so you can easily lift a leg and carefully place it down where it’s safe. Don’t forget to move the camera and change angles so you can plan where you’re going, especially when trying to switch off to the higher, thinner branch. Once you’ve made it onto the rooftop, fall through the broken slats and into the filthy tub. The interact button is there to help signal you that there’s something to pick up (because you sure cannot see this key AT ALL, I do miss glowy collectibles)!

On To The Tiretower!

With the key in hand, let’s return it to its rightful owner. Similar to the previous task and trophy, World’s Best Dad, bringing it back is half the challenge. And this time around, it is EXTRA important to hold on to those keys for dear life. Like previously mentioned, this key is extremely difficult to see, unlike the trophy. If you drop it, you’ll have to walk around where you fell, and rely on that interact button to pop-up, and Nate’s arms outstretched to help you find it.

Head back to where you saw the signage regarding the lost key.

TIPS 2:

  • Do your best not to fall, as Nate drops the key more than he did the trophy
  • The keys are difficult to see. Look for cues like the interact button and Nate’s arms to help you find it.
  • Due to this, make sure you have a good footing.

NOTE: I initially tried to take the quickest route and failed to reach it. So, I looked for a long time around and kept losing the keys. I ended up trying the short route again and managed the climb. This is what I suggest doing, as failing it won’t be as painful, since dropping the keys in this area is easier than dropping them in the river (like what happened to me).

As you walk through, you’ll be able to quickly spot the firetower. We’re going to go directly there, scaling that short cliff. As with the breaking and entering previously, I have the screenshots to help guide you on the steps I took in order to climb it.

The first few steps up are simple. You have easily reachable ledges with decent footing. However, there is a camouflaged footing that I happened to find that will enable you to reach the top.

Look closely at where I have both my feet. There isn’t anything visible there, but you should be able to climb up from here. Take your time and be patient, trust me, the long way around is extremely dangerous (slippery moss, rivers, thin wooden planks), all in an attempt to make you lose the keys.
