The cyberpunk classic Deus Ex is officially returning, with a remastered edition launching on PlayStation 5 on February 5, 2026, as confirmed by Aspyr and Eidos-Montréal in today's PlayStation Sate of Play announcement.
Originally released in 2000, Deus Ex redefined immersive sims with its blend of RPG mechanics, stealth, action, and player-driven storytelling. The remaster aims to preserve that legacy while modernising the experience for a new generation of operatives.
The remaster features a complete visual overhaul, with every location rebuilt using dynamic lighting, particle effects, and upscaled textures.

Character models now include lip-synced dialogue and ragdoll physics for added realism. Controls have been redesigned for consoles, drawing inspiration from Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, offering radial menus, fluid weapon switching, and smooth traversal optimised for DualSense.
Despite the upgrades, the core gameplay apparently remains untouched. Branching missions, stealth options, and freedom of choice are all intact, ensuring the original's DNA is preserved. Set in the year 2052, players step into the role of JC Denton, a nano-augmented UNATCO agent navigating a world on the brink of collapse. From New York to Hong Kong and Paris to Area 51, the story unfolds through conspiracies, shadow governments, and moral dilemmas.
