Acclaim is back after an over 20-year absence from the games industry, and they are making some head-turning announcements! As part of today’s launch of Katanaut, the solo-developed action roguelite metroidvania, the iconic publisher has revealed a giveaway for a one-of-a-kind Katanaut-branded katana!
In a press release we received earlier today, it states:
“To celebrate the launch of Katanaut, Acclaim will soon be hosting a giveaway for a one-of-a-kind Katanaut-branded katana*. For more info, keep an eye on @PlayAcclaim‘s social media channels!“

“*Images are from the first prototype. Stay tuned for a look at the real deal soon!”
While a sword giveaway is not typical of game launches, this seems like a fun and clever way to get more eyes on the game’s release. We’ll have to wait for more information from Acclaim on their Katanaut-branded katana giveaway, but you can be sure that the GSC team will keep a keen eye on this!
Developed by Voidmaw, Katanaut’s launch was featured in the Play Acclaim Showcase, which took place on Wednesday, September 10th.
“With the station slowly spiraling out of control, and its once-human inhabitants twisted into terrors, you're the unlucky one tasked with uncovering what is going on… assuming you're able to survive the station’s violent halls with souls-like combat.”

Experiment with different weapons, guns, and abilities in fast and fluid combat, creating your own builds with a variety of unlockable weapons, skills, and perks. When you die, you start again, armed with the knowledge you have gained from the previous run through a unique mixture of hand-crafted and procedurally generated levels. Discover hidden areas, mysterious NPCs, and elite challenges that reward your curiosity, face deadly enemies, and survive against escalating bosses in a world where cyberpunk tech meets eldritch cosmic horror.
Katanaut is available now on PC(Steam) for $17.99 (or regional equivalent) and has a two-week launch discount of 20%!
