Let’s imagine it for a second, you are looking for your next game. You want something that feels like a bit of a slice of life. You’re also a big fan of sushi. You really hate those big city jerks trying to eat up everything in town. Yet somehow you haven’t found a game to tie this all together and give you joy. Well not to worry, there’s one we’re here to tell you about and it’s releasing on PC in both standard and VR in 10 days.
Let’s introduce you to Sushi Ben, written by Moa. Does that name sound familiar? For my fellow quirky visual novel fans you may recognize the name from Hatoful Boyfriend! You won’t be dating pigeons this time though. Instead, it’s up to you to rally the locals and save the sushi bar!
Sushi Ben is a visual novel with some mini games to provide you some break from the narrative. Expect to spend some time fishing, playing ping pong, a bit of archery, and even taking photos of cute animals. Explore the story with manga panels that pop up to tell the story. This story also won’t take over your entire life as the game play is about 8ish hours of story quests and over 4 hours of mini games. Let’s not forget some of this time is spent with the hot villain who is ready to step on salary men if that’s your thing.

If this game looks familiar, it could be that you have already played the PSVR version when it previously released May 2024. However if you didn’t want to do all the reading back then, the English voice acting seems it was worth the wait!
The voice cast for Sushi Ben is also quite impressive. Anime voice actors such as Laura Post, Ryan Colt Levy, and AJ Beckles all voice characters in this indie game. Sean Chiplock known for many voices in video games such as Genshin Impact, Final Fantasy VII, and the Duck Detective series also lends his talent to this fever dream of a game.
Thankfully, to reiterate, if you aren’t a VR fan, or if it gives you motion sickness, this will also release as a regular game on Steam. The dev has shared it will be $11.99 USD when it releases on September 18, 2025. Will you be diving in or are you going to let those land sharks take over your favorite sushi spot?
