Square Enix is keeping players busy with their JRPGs and it looks like they plan to continue to do so. Later this year we’ll see Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Dragon Quest I & II Remake, and Octopath Traveller 0. In 2026 we know we’ll be seeing The Adventures of Elliot. Of course there are a few other games with unknown release dates but hopefully seeing a 2026 release such as Killer Inn.
Two games that will most likely not see a 2026 release are the third entry into the Final Fantasy 7R series and Kingdom Hearts IV. That doesn’t mean there isn’t news on these titles. In fact, Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura shared during a live broadcast for Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis that the games are on track. But what exactly does that mean for these titles?
Nomura says FF7 Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 are progressing well and according to schedule!

FF7R Part 3: “It is going very smoothly. The announcement timing has been decided and we will stick to that schedule, so please rest assured and wait.”
KH4: “Kingdom Hearts 4 is… pic.twitter.com/JW7uN7BJWl
In terms of Final Fantasy 7R, Nomura did share that release timing has already been decided. The good thing is that Nomura also stated they will be sticking to the schedule and just hope that fans can wait. This girl will be impatiently waiting to see (what is hopefully) the conclusion of the Final Fantasy 7R.
However, Final Fantasy wasn’t the only IP that came up during the stream. During this livestream it was mentioned that Kingdom Hearts 4 is progressing according to schedule. No additional news or updates on this, so fans will have to wait. Despite the announcement in 2022 we’re not much further into knowing where Kingdom Hearts 4 will go.

In the meantime, if you need your fix of a Square Enix JRPG, you can keep up to date with all of the news on Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary celebrations including a pop up cafe in Tokyo.
