While we are waiting for an announcement from Xbox on the next round of Xbox Game Pass games coming, a new game has shown up in the “coming soon” section on the Game Pass section of the Xbox app, showing us at least 1 new game coming to the service later this month.
Indie developer Okomotive, most well known for the FAR games, will be dropping its latest adventure game Herdling on August 21st, and now it appears that the title will indeed be hitting Xbox Game Pass on day 1. Some of you may be just hearing of Herdling for the first time and wondering what it is, and thats where we come in!
Players will take control of a character who must protect a herd of animal like creatures, known as Calicorns. With a world falling apart you will be tasked with guiding the Calicorns to the top of a mountain in order to save them.
Players will traverse the land experiencing many different environmental challenges with stunning mountainscapes, fog-wreathed forests, snowy plateaus, and forgotten valleys. Working together with the Calicorns will be a tall task. An achievement for completing the game without losing a single Calicorn suggests you will have some heartwrenching moments if you happen to lose one.
“Head out on a grand alpine expedition with a herd of loveable beasts, as you ascend a mountain path, encounter eerie dangers and surprising obstacles, and forge your way to the mystery at the summit. Guide a herd of mysterious creatures on a stirring and beautiful journey into the mountains... and beyond” the game’s trailer says in its description.
The game is being published by Panic, the publisher behind the acclaimed Firewatch game. The publisher also just recently published Time Flies, another indie that is being enjoyed by many. We have reviewed it and can definitely say it is also one that should be on your radar if you haven’t already played it.
Herdling launches on Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on August 21st. It will launch day 1 on Xbox Game Pass. You can see the gameplay trailer below.
