College Football 26 – Dynasty Coach Guide

CFB 26 dynasty is one of my favorite modes in the game each year, and for everyone who plays Dynasty, you need to have the right coach build. With the changes to recruiting and the transfer portal, you need to make sure you have the best coach on the sideline.

One significant improvement EA made this year was increasing the coach level from 50 to 100. While you can still max out certain abilities, you are still unable to do that with everything. Players will have to choose to be a jack of all trades or an expert in one. Let us jump into the best build for EA Sports College Football 26.

Create Your Coach

EA has added fresh faces and clothing this year for coaches, so you could make your coach look how you want them to. Here, you also must select a pipeline, and if you are starting at a smaller school and do not plan to leave after a few years, pick the state your school is in. If you are planning to take job offers after job offer until you get to the best program, then I suggest selecting a pipeline state that has big areas, like Florida, California, Texas, or Georgia.

Choose Your Archetype

In my opinion, the best two starting archetypes are either Tactician or Recruiter. Tactician is an excellent choice for those starting at smaller schools and looking to rebuild. You see an immediate impact, especially if you are winning games, and it helps you win games by providing a rating boost to your players. Recruiter works well when starting at bigger schools or if you are in a coordinator-type role. The Recruiter also gets the new tier 3 ability “Portal King”, which will most certainly come in handy this year.  Motivator can be picked as well, and well it does help you keep your current roster talent. Tactician and Recruiter are good starting points this year.

Win!!

This is an easy one, or we will say the simplest, win games. Winning will help you get recruits, gain and keep interest, and is overall good for your program. Even as a smaller team trying to pull off an upset, it might not happen, but making sure to win your conference games is necessary.

Level up!

You get coach points for winning games and completing goals each week. Once you reach level 10, you can unlock a second ability. Here is where I would choose Recruiter if you chose something else to start with. If you picked Recruiter, then I suggest Tactician if you are at a smaller school or Motivator if you are currently at a bigger school.

The Build Up!

After you have won a few bowl games, the playoffs count towards that as well, and unlock the Strategist archetype. Here is where things start to get fun, especially if you went the small school route. Your player visits start to have a bigger impact with Tier 1 (making friends) and Tier 2 (Hospitality). Make sure you are maximizing your visit by having complementary players come together. If you have QB coming, be sure to also include offensive linemen, wide receivers, and running backs on that same visit. It helps you get more bang for your buck.

As your program continues to grow and you continue to win games, you will be able to unlock some of the more powerful archetypes, like CEO, Program Builder, and Elite Recruiter. All require different things to unlock. As a CEO, you have put at least 200 points into another archetype and have won 2 national championships. The CEO gives some good upgrades, like Last Impression, where you get additional interest for every 10 hours spent. Just a warning, the upgrades in CEO cost 16 points, so save up.

Another option is Program Builder, and you need 125 points in any archetype and have won at least 5 playoff games. Program Builder features upgrades like Strong Roots, which improve your impact on pipeline recruits, and the relationship builder, which improves your school’s recruiting pipelines. Program Builder upgrades are also expensive and cost 16 points; make sure you have saved up.

Helpful Tips

If you are getting beaten down with some stuff and having a difficult time, you can also change a few settings to help. If you are losing a lot of players to transfers, you can change the number of players who leave every year. It’s set to 20, but you can always decrease that until you get the right coaching upgrade. If you feel you are not getting points fast enough, there is a setting that can fix that. You can change how much you get in coach points each week, so if you want more points to help max out your coach, you can do that. Also, if you just want to focus on winning games and not have to deal with recruiting, there is an option for that as well. Just be mindful that you need some good assistant coaches to make sure you bring in some talented players.
