Developer Issues Statement on Issues with Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers launched just yesterday to decent reviews, garnering a 75 on Metacritic and scoring an 8 from our own GSC Reviews Editor, Lady V. If you’re getting started with the game over the weekend, be sure to check out our Wuchang starter guide.

While the game itself seems to be something most fans of Soulslike games could dig their teeth into, it seems the game’s performance is not something that should be praised.

Leenzee Games and 505 Games put out a statement on Steam regarding pricing errors, pre-order rewards, and the game itself having major performance issues on mostly (but not limited to) low-end PC hardware:

“First of all, we want to extend our most sincere thanks to everyone who supports and follows our game. It means a lot to us.” The statement continues: “We have received reports regarding issues such as the game’s optimization not meeting expectations, errors in distributing pre-order rewards, and some abnormal pricing. These problems should never have occurred, and we deeply regret the inconvenience and negative experience some players are currently facing.” These bugs have made the game’s user score on Steam hover around 24% since launch:

Wuchang’s user reviews are not off to a good start on Steam

In response to the performance issues they said “We are confident in the game’s performance within our recommended spec, but we’re working on optimization. We are looking to issue a patch as soon as we can.” If you have issues you feel need reported, you can do so here.

As far as people not getting their pre-order bonuses they had this to say: “The root cause is a bug in the reward distribution for the Standard and Deluxe editions, which prevented players from receiving the correct items. We are fixing this issue in the upcoming patch” . They went on to say as a make good deed for the issue, players will get a copy of the Wuchang soundtrack for free and anyone who’s already purchased it will be getting a refund for said soundtrack.

As for the pricing errors, they’ve stated that they are currently working with Steam to fix any issues with regions where the price is incorrect.

We will keep you updated on any other issues with the game going forward.
