The Drifter – Misspent Youth Achievement Guide

The Drifter is a gritty point-and-click thriller with a supernatural edge to it, blending investigation and gripping set pieces into a twisting tale of shady organisations and time travel. Due to the cerebral and often tense nature of the game’s puzzle, you may find it tricky to keep an eye out for achievements. So, here is our guide for the Misspent Youth achievement in The Drifter.

Misspent Youth Achievement

At the start of Chapter One, Mick has narrowly escaped some trigger-happy strangers by jumping down to a reservoir below the freight train he had hopped. After getting to his feet and chatting with his sister until his phone dies, you are back in control of Mick.

Walk to the right of this area, past the car wreck and the homeless man called Bill, who is actually an old friend of Mick’s.

On the next screen, walk down to the end of the wooden dock. Under the bright streetlight is a pretrol can that you’ll need to progress the game. Interact with it to have Mick pick it up and add it to his inventory.

Return to the previous screen with the entrance to the underpass. Equip the petrol can and interact with Bill to start a nostalgic chat that details a bit more of the two men’s relationship, as well as gives us some insight into Mick’s rough childhood.

At the end of the conversation, the Misspent Youth achievement should pop.
