This morning eager fans woke up to some exciting news regarding the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie. While the movie was initially scheduled to be released March 2027, we know it has been pushed back to May 2027. Just a few short months later to perhaps kick off the summer blockbusters of that year. But who would be leading this foray into Hyrule? Miyamoto took to Twitter/X to let us know.

English actress Bo Bragason will step into the titular role of Zelda with English actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. If you’re wondering where you may have seen these actors before, or perhaps, why you haven’t seen them, both are relatively new actors.
Bo Bragason is no stranger to video game movies. In 2016 Bragson took on the motion capture for Young Luna in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. She has since been in the 2021 horror film Censor, the Disney+ series Renegade Nell, and BBC One drama The Jetty. The Legend of Zelda looks to be her first world wide theatrical release with her other films only being released in the UK and at film festivals.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has also done his fair share of smaller films that have made appearances at film festivals. Many Netflix subscribers may find Ainsworth familiar as he started as Miles Wingrave in The Haunting of Bly Manor. If Link gets to speak more than he does in many of the games, then perhaps Ainsworth’s voice will sound familiar. Previously he provided the voice over for Pinocchio in Disney’s 2022 release.

Miyamoto is asking patiently for everyone to be patient as work continues on the film. Are you patiently waiting? How do you feel about the Zelda and Link casting? Any fantasy casting for Ganon or other characters you’d like to see? Sound off below and let us know!
